Job Responsibilities

Risk Management and Compliance Implementation

One of the primary responsibilities of the Security Engineer will be to develop and implement risk management programs tailored to our Federal clients. Utilizing frameworks such as NIST, RMF and FISMA, the candidate will establish comprehensive strategies to mitigate security risks effectively. Additionally, they will guide systems through the intricate process of obtaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) approvals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Security Controls Establishment

The Security Engineer will be tasked with establishing and maintaining robust security controls to safeguard client systems. By leveraging their expertise in cybersecurity and Linux systems administration, they will implement measures to protect sensitive data and mitigate potential vulnerabilities. Moreover, the candidate will provide valuable insights to the application team regarding security and compliance standards, fostering a culture of security consciousness within the organization.

Support for Compliance and Assessment Services

In addition to risk management, the Security Engineer will provide vital support for various compliance and assessment services, including RMF, IA, A&A and data privacy assessments. This entails preparing accreditation documentation, conducting system remediation activities, performing required patching and developing comprehensive security penetration test plans. Furthermore, the candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of security controls and adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Coordination of Patching Activities

The Security Engineer will play a key role in coordinating Information System Vulnerability Management (ISVM) compliance patching activities across all system assets. This involves collaborating with system ISSOs to address STIGs deviation and non-compliance issues promptly. Additionally, the candidate will oversee the submission of Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) for remediation actions, ensuring timely resolution of identified vulnerabilities.

Job Type and Compensation

This position is offered on a contract basis, with compensation starting from $95.00 per hour.

Experience Level and Schedule
