Ranger’s Goal in NPFL Opening Match Against El-Kanemi Warriors Is to Get Off to a Winning Start

On Saturday (today), Rangers will face El-Kanemi Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu to kick off their defense of the Nigeria Premier Football League title.

Like the previous two champions, Enyimba and Rivers United, the Flying Antelopes got off to a winning start in their title defense.

It has been ten years since Kano Pillars won back-to-back championships (2012), 2013 and 2014, therefore Fidelis Ilechukwu’s squad will be looking to go even higher by season’s conclusion.

Based on the history of the two clubs, the Rangers are clearly the favorites coming into the match.

The eight-time winners have done a good job of replacing some of their key players from the previous season while also adding new ones.

The Enugu club knows they need to step up their game if they want to have a good start to the new season after their lackluster CAF Champions League victory over Comoros’ US Zilimadjou.

After a brief stint in the Nigeria National League (NNL), the El-Kanemi Warriors are making a triumphant return to the top flight.

The team led by Aliyu Zubairu will be looking to put a stamp on the game by securing a draw.
